This has to have been the longest prelude to a vacation I’ve ever experienced. On Wednesday, after driving six hours to someplace just outside Athens, Georgia (yes, yes we got lost!) to drop off the dog we drove another hour to our hotel in Atlanta.
Thursday morning before the flight we stopped to visit my father and mother-in-law who just moved to the Atlanta area Saturday 5/30 then finally we were off to the airport to get this life experience started! What??!! A maintenance issue?? 15 to 20 minutes wow will this ever get started? Finally we’re off and 4 hours later we arrive to LAX where we have a 3 hour layover. After we eat, I almost get a plate of food dumped on me, K says “Is the flight really going to be 13 hours?” I reply “Yeah, what do you mean really?” (I’ll spare you the rest of this convo it reminds me of a Seinfeld episode). We exchange our currency and finally the flight takes off at 6:30 pm to get this life experience started. A snack, a little later some sort of chicken dinner, later still an ice cream sandwich, tossing and turning, 2 two-hour movies, more tossing and turning, a bagel with cream cheese and yogurt we arrive in Tokyo Friday at 10:45pm.
It was dark and rainy so no beautiful arrival pictures from the plane descending or anything like but Japanese whiskey….who new??? Zoomed through customs (sike) and met Evelyn who says “It’s about a 45 minute ride to the house.”….wow!!! At least now as I am writing this we’ve finally got this life experience started…but I’m tired as hell it’s 2:30 in the morning!!!
